What Is A Chemistry Workbook?
What Is A Chemistry Workbook? If you're thinking about taking a biology course, and you want to work in the lab, the Chemistry workbook will help you. There are quite a few things that you need to know about Chemistry, the best being how do you go about making it all possible? How do you produce a study group? What exactly is a chemistry workbook? The book that comes with it is a reference guide to help you with some of the concepts, but also teach you about other things as well. You have to be able to understand the written instructions as well as the visual instructions. So it can take some time to get used to this material. Although there is an actual lab manual that comes with the book, you have to really know what you're doing to know how to use it.The first thing that you'll need to learn is the laboratory safety regulations. The safety regulations allow you to use any chemical that you would normally use at home or even in the workplace. But, of course, using chemicals in your w orkplace isn't just good for you, it's good for your colleagues as well. You need to know how to use chemicals that are hazardous chemicals. For example, remember the paraffin waxes? They're dangerous! You wouldn't want to be using them while you're working in the lab, right? They're widely available in the market and you can buy them from many hardware stores and you can even buy them online. However, you need to know how to use them safely. The book teaches you how to do that. You learn the correct usage of the paraffin waxes. Not only that, you learn how to create them, so you know that they work as well as you want them to. This is really important, because you never know when you'll find yourself in the lab with a paraffin wax! Now, if you have a chemistry workbook, it's almost like having your own laboratory with all the necessary apparatus. You'll know how to keep yourself and your fellow student safe in the laboratory.

Interview Drama-Can I Wear My Nose Ring to the Interview - Introvert Whisperer
Introvert Whisperer / Interview Drama-Can I Wear My Nose Ring to the Interview - Introvert Whisperer Interview Drama-Can I Wear My Nose Ring to the Interview? How did my interview with the 27-year old go? I will let you decide. Her pink, green, and purple hair were a distraction to me. One eyebrow was chartreuse, the other orange. That was a distraction to me. Her black nail polish on all her fingers, with a âskull and crossbonesâ on each middle finger, was a distraction. For driving in NJ her finger art would be helpful, not so sure about Austin. Her shoes did not match, that was a distraction. On one foot were a shoe and sock. On the other foot, a different style of shoe and no shock. I like balance and symmetry. Her, not so much. My personality vertigo was beginning to act up; her vertigo, not so much. I begin to think her vertigo has been cured with weekly satanic rituals that include the sacrifice of a plump, over-50 interviewee. Since this is the first of the week, I hoped her weekly satanic sessions were at the end of the week. Still, things are looking a little grim for me. She claims they have a weekly beer bash, but I know better. I imagine ominous organ music in the background. One of us in the office/breakroom/hang-out area/sleep module/interview room had a nose ring, and it was not me. The office/breakroom/hang-out area/sleep module/interview-room reminded me of a fraternity house. I was not in a fraternity (or sorority either) while in college. My interviewer, she was in the Kappa Kappa Spank Me sorority. Since I was not in a fraternity, why does the office/breakroom/hang-out area/sleep module/interview-room remind me of a fraternity house? The potpourri of rank beer, hot pockets, stale pizza, and week old barf with a hint of marijuana binding all of the smells together. One of us had tattoos over 40% (90%?) of our body. It was not me. Just below her neck was a tattoo This Side Up. I was going to ask why she had to remind someone as to which side was up but thought better of it. Donât ask the question if you donât want to know the answer. There were too many answers to that question that I didnât want to know or have explained. I have nothing against tattoos. One good point, I no longer have to pay $10 at the county fair to see a painted woman. Now, I go on an interview and save the $10 for Starbucks. What was my reaction to this dress code? I didnt react. I answered questions, asked questions, and enjoyed myself. I thought about sunrises on Hilton Head, sunsets in Carmel and focused on the questions and answers rather than her nose ring, tattoo, middle finger art, satanic rituals, or the scary organ music I was hearing. The shoes, they kept my personality vertigo going. All in all, she was an excellent interviewer. She was an artist. This was not a job or a chore. For her, interviewing was one of her areas of expertise. She was good. Her packaging â" or looks was unsettling, but the performance was wonderful. She asked great questions along with excellent follow-up. She did not ask any of the famously inane questions attributed to Google, Apple, Facebook, etc. interviews. Questions such as âWhy are manhole covers round?â Or âHow many gas stations will fit on the head of a pin?â Or, âIf your printer has invisible ink, how do you know when it runs out of ink?â My answer: âThe inaudible alarm goes off.â Or, âHow many ping pong balls will fit up a horseâs ass?â By the way, donât answer that question with âWell, Scooter, why donât you bend over and letâs see.â Once Scooter connected that dot, my interview was over. Back to my current interview we had a very nice conversation and interview. She asked great questions. I had great answers. (That is my story and I am sticking to it.) The role would be an excellent match for me. The culture? I am not sure I am ready for the nose-ring, middle-finger art, This Side Up tattoo, mismatched shoe, Kappa Kappa Spank Me, weekly satanic ritual workplace. It wa

Tips for Finding an Evidence Based Treatment Therapist
Tips for Finding an Evidence Based Treatment Therapist Learning that your child or teen has ADHD or is struggling with symptoms of anxiety or depression can be overwhelming, and its hard for parents to know what to look for when they are searching for a therapist who can help. For your child to have the best chance of success with treatment, it is essential that parents look for a therapist who provides evidence-based treatments. Evidence-based treatments have undergone rigorous testing through scientific studies and clinical trials and have been proven to be effective for many kids with ADHD and other mental health problems (for a description of evidence-based treatments see my previous post on this topic. Unfortunately, there is no simple way for parents and other consumers to know in advance whether a therapist provides evidence-based treatments. Occasionally, a therapist will have participated in a specific evidence-based treatment certification program and this certification will be listed on their website. While this makes it much easier for parents to have confidence in the therapists use of evidence-based treatments, many highly qualified, highly trained therapists who provide evidence-based treatments have not received these certifications. So, relying on a certification alone isnt a great option. Overall, finding a good evidence-based therapist requires interviewing the therapist and asking key questions to determine whether evidence-based approaches will be incorporated into your childs treatment. Questions to Ask Prospective Therapists When interviewing potential therapists for your child, ask the following questions. You should expect to hear answers that are consistent with the description of evidence-based treatments that I provided in my previous post. Training and Credentials Have you received training in any evidence-based treatments? Which treatments or approaches have you been trained in specifically? Where did you receive this training? Do you have any certifications? How much experience do you have treating children or teens with ADHD (and/or other conditions or challenges that may apply to your child)? Measuring symptoms and treatment progress What type of assessments do you conduct at the start of treatment? Do you use rating scales or measures and clinical interviews? Will I be expected to complete measures about my childs symptoms and behavior? Will you collect measures from my childs teacher as well? How do you measure treatment progress (i.e., how will you know if my child is improving)? What will you do if my childs symptoms arent improving? Treatment and Treatment plan Do you create a treatment plan after you complete the initial assessment? Do you consult with parents when creating the treatment plan?Which treatments or treatment approaches do you use for ADHD (and/or other conditions or challenges that may apply to your child)?Do you recommend any websites or have any materials to share that will help me learn more about these treatments and approaches? Session content Do your sessions typically involve working on new skills or strategies?Do you expect your clients to practice new skills and strategies at home in between therapy sessions? Parent involvementWhat is the role of parents in the childs treatment? How often will I (and my co-parent) be expected to attend treatment sessions? Will I be expected to help my child practice new skills and strategies at home? Treatment length After you complete the initial assessment, will you provide an estimate of how many therapy sessions you think my child will need?Do your clients usually remain in treatment for a few months or a few years?Do you encourage booster or maintenance sessions after treatment ends? As a parent it is ultimately up to you to decide which therapist and treatment approach is the best fit for your child. Choosing a therapist is like choosing any other professional who delivers a service, and finding the right fit requires some research and legwork upfront. Fortunately, this effort will pay off when your child is able to work with a therapist who is trained in evidence-based treatments that can be tailored to meet your childs individual needs. ___________________________________ *Note that before meeting with any therapist, you should always confirm that they are licensed in your state. To verify a therapist license, first find out whether they are a psychologist, a social worker, counselor, or a marriage and family therapist, and then search for verify license on one of the following organizations websites: Psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.): The Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards Social Worker: Association of Social Work Boards Mental Health Counselor: American Counseling Association Marriage and Family Therapist: American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy ABOUT DR. Frightfully Fun Activities for a Brainy Halloween
Frightfully Fun Activities for a Brainy Halloween Frightfully Fun Activities for a Brainy Halloween Boo! Ghosts and goblins are out and about and witches are walking among us! The Halloween season sparks imagination, creativity and a sense of wonder in children of all ages. Who are we kidding? Even adults like to partake in the season of spooky make-believe. This time of year is a great opportunity to build upon that imagination and turn it into a âspooktacularâ learning opportunity. Check out these frightfully fun activities for a brainy Halloween. Pumpkin Math There are many pumpkin related activities you can do while reinforcing a few math lessons. Work on your childâs estimation skills by guessing how many pumpkin seeds are inside, how much it weighs and what the circumference of the pumpkin is at its widest point. You can then work on their counting skills when you cut open the pumpkin and count the number of seeds inside. Children will have fun using addition and subtraction skills when determining the difference between the actual weight and circumference and their closest prediction. Candy Sort We all know that children love candy and one of the most popular Halloween pastimes is sorting it after a successful night of trick-or-treating. Why not throw in a little learning? Work on your childrenâs sorting abilities by having them sort the candy in various ways and then graph their results. They can sort to see the most common to the least common type of candy, by candy wrapper color, chewy candy versus hard candy, etc. After you are done sorting, create a Venn diagram that classifies the different characteristics of the candy. This teaches sorting skills, language skills, and comparing similarities and differences. Halloween-Inspired Books What better way to spark your childrenâs imagination and creativity then through reading books. One of the best things parents can do for their children is read to them every night. Channel their Halloween excitement by picking out some frightfully themed books. Scholastic has some great options for kids all of all ages. Candy Corn Calculations Your children will love practicing their multiplication tables in a tasty and fun way by creating sets of candy corn to solve their own products. Have your children roll a die to represent the number of sets of candy corn. Then roll a second die to find out how many pieces of candy corn will be in each set. For example, you may roll a six and a four. Your children will then arrange the factors they rolled (six sets of four pieces of candy corn, or 64=24). This activity helps them find their factors, multipliers and products. These are just a few activities that will keep your childrenâs learning brewing this Halloween season. 5 best practices for background checks What international schools need to know
5 best practices for background checks What international schools need to know Hiring teachers internationally brings a whole set of challenges to your schoolâs candidate vetting process. Most school heads know from past experience that when it comes to background checks, there just isn't one prescribed strategy that works for every case and every country. With that in mind, weâve outlined five key guidelines here you can follow when conducting your background checks, to help ensure a secure learning environment for your schoolâs students and safeguard your school from future liability issues: Get a criminal background check from your candidateâs country of citizenship, in addition to the country they currently reside in. International background checks are complex and notoriously difficult to carry out. Since there isn't a global database (yet!) that allows schools to look at a candidateâs information in one go, international background checks should consist of checking records in each country where the teacher has lived and taught in. To complicate matters further, each country has its own set of laws, and some countries prohibit any agencies from obtaining records. At minimum, if your candidate has been living or teaching abroad, they need to provide a criminal record check from the country in which they are teaching immediately before joining their new school, as well as their home country. Experienced international educators will usually have important papers ready to share with prospective schools, including a portfolio of criminal background checks from every country theyâve lived in before. Some schools might require teachers to have an uninterrupted criminal record history, with police checks for every country in which theyâve lived or taught in. However, there may be certain circumstances where itâs just not possible for a candidate to obtain a criminal background check. It may well be that the country your candidate lived in beforehand does not provide police checks, or requires that the candidate makes the request in person, so use your judgement in these rare cases. Make sure background checks are up to date. Technically speaking, a criminal background check is only valid on the day it was issued. However, due to the long turnaround times involved in securing checks, itâs likely impossible to have a certificate dated on the very day a new teacher starts at your school. That said, make sure that the latest criminal background check for a teacher you hire is no more than six months old on the day they depart. Three months is ideal, but certain countries take longer than that to issue a check so youâll need to bear this in mind and adjust your requirements accordingly. Donât forget to have a process in place to re-vet your teaching staff periodically (at least once every three years). Ensure criminal background checks are at the national level. Firstly, itâs really important to understand the difference between national and regional criminal background checks. Not all checks are made equal. In general, you should always require a national over a local check, and ideally one thatâs specifically designed for individuals working with children (when this option is available). Most western countries will have special criminal background checks in places for individuals working with children. Be sure to inform your candidates during the interview process which exact documents will be required for employment, so they have time to request the necessary documentation. Country Best practice criminal record check Other checks available that should not be accepted Provider Average turnaround time USA Federal Level FBI Criminal Record Checks State level Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) 60 days when ordered directly from the FBI, issued in 2-3 weeks when ordered from âApproved FBI Channelersâ Canada Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check Local Police Check, Regional RCMP Check Canadian Government Police Authority 120 days (due to high volume) UK Disclosure and Barring Service (Enhanced with Barred List) Check/International Child Protection Certificate UK Standard or Basic Police Check, Police Certificate/Basic Disclosure National Police Chiefsâ Council (NPCC) 40 days Ireland Garda Check Local Police check National Vetting Bureau of the Garda Siochana 6 weeks South Africa Federal Police Check Local Police check South African Police Service 14 days Australia Federal Level Police Check State Police Check Australian Federal Police (AFP) 15 days New Zealand Federal Level Record of Criminal History Local Police check New Zealand Licensing and Vetting Services Centre 20 days Avoid third-party criminal checks. With the exception of US FBI checks (which allows for FBI approved channelers), international school heads should completely avoid the use of a third-party provider or private company to obtain criminal background checks. All background checks should be original, stamped documents and come directly from the relevant police department or government office. This almost goes without saying, but background checks that were ordered online and printed out should not be accepted. Get criminal background checks notarized/Apostilled. There may be special cases where youâre concerned about candidates fabricating criminal background checks. Or, perhaps you want to introduce an extra security measure to ensure documents are 100% authentic across the board, regardless of where your candidate is from. As an extra precaution, itâs advisable that original criminal background checks be notarized or Apostille authenticated (an Apostille is a type of US or international authentication for important documents). Thereâs one notable exception: Canada hasnât signed the Apostille treaty as of yet, so Canadian teachers need to secure a consulate verification stamp as an alternative. There are currently 113 countries worldwide that issue Apostille certification. Click here for the full list. Remember, international school leaders ultimately have the responsibility to ensure that the teachers they hire have appropriate backgrounds and records to be working with children. If youâre working with an outside teacher recruitment service, itâs important that they also have strict vetting procedures in place for candidates. Donât be complacent: ensure that theyâre also following the best practices outlined above. Finally, youâll want to communicate to your community that your school is proactive when it comes to properly screening teacher candidates. Clearly outline your screening protocol for new hires on your school website. This will go a long way in reassuring parents that your school is mindful of student safety and committed to providing a safe school environment.
St. Pete Man Dodges Darwinism
St. Pete Man Dodges Darwinism Yay guns! (photo by Flickr user cliff1066â¢) First of all, who plays Russian roulette? You really want to die sitting around with your stupid friends around a card table, after drinking a case of Natty Light, probably wearing a wifebeater, just to prove, what? That youre not afraid? That youre super cool with your gun? That you have a really small penis and need to overcompensate? You know what they say about big trucks (photo by Flickr user photofarmer) Second of all, what were they planning on doing if this guy died (or dies) or if either of them had died? Would they have called 911? Yeah, that would have gone over well: Oh hey operator, I triple-dog-dared my friend to shoot himself in the head, and he did it, and hes, like, super dead now. And then after this guy survives, they decide to lie about what happened. He got shot during a home invasion. Really? Original. Have you never seen any crime show ever? Dont you know that you cant just say whatever you want without backing it up? (photo by Flickr user Michael T. Williams) Well, thankfully or not, theyve dodged natural selection for the time being. Maybe after their pal gets out of the hospital they can go back to playing other totally awesome games like who can snort the most anthrax? or who can swallow the most leaky condoms filled with liquid cocaine?. Hey kids! Fill me with heroin and eat me! (photo by Flickr user Hey Paul Studios)
How to Find a Math Tutor
How to Find a Math TutorIf you have some experience in mathematics, you have probably wondered what it is that you need to do in order to find and get a math tutor. The first thing that you need to know is that there are many different options out there, as well as a lot of them that you will want to avoid. There are going to be people who are going to be looking for tutors that you should avoid, and there are some that you should go with. This is something that is going to be very important, because if you miss out on a good one, then the chances are that you are going to end up doing it all wrong. In order to make sure that you get the most out of the tutoring that you do get, you are going to need to know what you need to do in order to find a tutor. In this article, we are going to take a look at what you need to do in order to find and get a math tutor. One of the main things that you are going to need to do in order to get the most out of your tutor is to pay attention to how muc h time that they are willing to spend with you. You should only be working with the tutor for a certain amount of time, and you should not have to do anything other than what they say they will do. Make sure that you do not miss any of their appointments, because if you do, then you are going to wind up doing all of the work for yourself, which is not going to be very efficient.Another thing that you should do in order to find a tutor is to find out what type of experience the tutor has. You are going to want to find out where the tutor worked before, so that you can use this information to your advantage. You are also going to want to look at some of the reviews that you can find online, and read as many of them as you can. This is something that you can do so that you are able to narrow down your list of possibilities and find the tutor that is going to be best for you.Another thing that you are going to want to do in order to find the right math tutor is to look at their credenti als. You are going to want to do a bit of research into the types of jobs that the tutor has done in the past, and you are also going to want to check with some different government agencies, such as the ETS or the FEIS. Doing this will allow you to find out what sort of experiences the tutor has had, and this is going to allow you to narrow down your list of possibilities. Finally, you are going to want to look at what the prices are that the tutor is asking for their services. You are going to want to be able to make a good decision about whether or not you are going to be paying for the service. Make sure that you are paying for a quality service, so that you do not end up wasting your money on a bad tutor. These are just a few things that you will want to do in order to find and get a math tutor. Make sure that you do all of the work that you need to do in order to find the perfect tutor for you.
